Teacher’s Intensive

Teacher’s Intensive with Stephen Thomas in Samata Goa, India
This is an intensive study program for those wishing to deepen your personal practice and improve skills in teaching. The program includes long, intensive mornings of guided practice in the 3 pillars of Hatha Yoga - Meditation/Pranayama/Asana. In the afternoons, the focus is on skills for sequencing, direct work on Alignment, refining the subtle practices, assisting and working with modifications.

The retreat centre at Samata offers full support with an Ayurvedic Kitchen, an amazing food and herb garden and therapy offerings in Ayruvedic massage, and Chinese Medicine!

Kick off your New Year with a Deep Hatha Yoga Immersion Sunday.

Enjoy a day immersed in your yoga practice.
After the hectic holiday period it’s pure nourishment for body and soul to spend a day on the yoga mat to restore and revitalize your whole system.

This day will begin in silence in meditation, then move into Kriya and Pranayama practices followed by a strong, dynamic yoga practice.

After the lunch break we enjoy some mantra singing and round off the day with a restorative/yin practice.

Yoga for Women

A woman’s life is in constant flux determined by her hormones, the menstruation cycle, pregnancies and menopause. Yoga is a wonderful practice that helps bring these hormonal fluctuations into balance as well as bring about harmony in a woman’s emotional being. It also meets a woman’s need for a relaxed, confident life that is suffused with a connection to her spirituality.

In this 1 day workshop we will learn pranayama techniques and asanas that support us in our special needs as women. We will get to know the 11 moon centers and sing a mantra which supports our creativity and female strength.

Meditation with Martine Burgy, Yoga with Claire Dalloz.

The concept of Meditation has become so well known that almost everyone has an idea of it. What, however, is meditation really? What is it not? What are the benefits? And for whom is meditation suitable? What obstacles can appear? These and other questions based on the tradtition of Sri Patanjali will be addressed during this workshop. In between we will use pranayama and asana to stretch, strengthen and relax the body.

Alignment Workshop

Awakening the subtle body through correct alignment.
Alignment and the correct use of props in Yoga.

Correct alignment of the body and appropriate and correct use of props are two vital aspects of a lifelong injury-free yoga practice.
During this workshop we will learn how to appropriately adapt alignment techniques in order to fit a pose to an individual body and not force a body into a picture book pose. We will also learn the use of props to help deepen a pose and improve our understanding of its effects.

“Props allow us to unfold the space of an asana and acquaint us with certain asanas that may otherwise be too difficult to practice.
Props create an understanding of the correct gesture (mudra)
and attitude (bhava) of asana.
Props let us stay longer in an asana, thus permitting deeper penetration

Yoga for a healthy back

“Sthiram sukham asanam”. PS 2.46
This is the only Sutra by Patanjali that refers to Asana (the seat). It expresses the essence of asana: it should be steady and at the same time at ease and relaxed.

During this workshop we will get to know the balance of flexibility and strength with special reference to back care.

  • How much strength, how much action is needed in order to support a healthy back?
  • Where do I need to apply strength in my body?
  • Where do I need to let go?
  • How much stretching is necessary? What is too much?
These and other questions will guide us through this 3 hour workshop.
At the end each participant will have a sequence to take home for home practice.

This retreat is suitable for all levels of Yogi, except for absolute beginners.

Jasper House
The Boutique Style Villa has twelve beautiful bedrooms: triple, double, twin and a limited number of single rooms. The rooms have been designed with an open concept; their large windows (mostly open spaces, no glass…) and open-air en suite bathrooms have views of the ocean and vast coconut groves. All the rooms have a mosquito net, polished concrete floors with a cooling effect, in addition to the ceiling fans. The rooms are fitted with locally produced furnishing and fittings mixed with antiques and art deco features. The villa has a huge rooftop with views out onto the bay. Tastefully furnished with sunbeds, sofas and alfresco dining area, this is a highlight of the location and the perfect spot to enjoy sunset and quite moments. The villa has a small lap pool surrounded by sunbeds and a relaxation deck.

The villa owners have deep roots in Sri Lanka and their respect for the local culture and natural environment is integral to maintaining a spiritual, harmonious location. Yogatanja uses local staff and guides so that your trip will directly contribute to the local economy.

Daily Schedule (subject to modifications)

  • 9:00 am to 11:00 am: Dynamic Yoga Practice

All classes will be taught in English, alternating between Nico and Claire. The teachers are fluent in German, French and Spanish, in case of Q&A in between the classes.

Arrivals / Departures
Check in is possible as from 2:00 pm. We are unable to receive guests before that time, so please organize travel arrangements accordingly. Please arrive at Jasper Hose at the latest on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 6:00 pm for the opening-dinner followed by a meet & greet. Your first class will be the following morning.
On the last day, Tuesday, May 7th, 2019 the departure is latest at 12:00 noon.

Travel / Transfer To get to Jasper House you will need to fly to Colombo or the much smaller Airport of Matalla. Airport transfers to Jasper Houser (Colombo 4 hours / Matalla 1,5 hours) can be arranged by us for the cost of USD 120.- (Colombo) / USD 55.- (Matalla).

The closest train station is located in Matara, a 45 min / 1 hour drive away from the retreat center. The costs for a taxi transfer to Matara is USD 15.-. The price for a tuk tuk is USD 9.-.

We recommend arriving a few days earlier in Sri Lanka to get over the Jetlag before the retreat starts. If some students plan to spend the first couple of days in Colombo (we have been told that the Galle Face Hotel is great to arrive.….), we might organize a group transfer from this one hotel to the retreat center in the morning of Saturday, April, 27, 2019.

If you choose to be picked up from the airport/train station or if you are interested in this group transfer, please let us know on the application form.

If one of the teachers or both teachers are unable to lead the retreat due to unforeseen circumstances, we reserve the right to replace the teacher(s) with (an) equivalent one(s).

Whitsun weekend

in the beautiful Chateau Gottrau

During this long weekend we will dive deep into the practice of yoga, enjoying moments in silence in meditation, moments of flowing movement in the asanas and moments of restoration of body and mind in the evening sessions. In between the sessions we can enjoy the Chateau and its beautiful, lovingly tended garden. The Chateau serves fresh organic home-made food.

Corfu Yoga Retreat

Get inspired!

Beautiful golden light, silvery-shimmering Olive groves, hidden beach coves with a turquoise-blue sea and long stretches of sandy beach - these are all perfect ingredients for a Yoga holiday away from the stresses and strains of daily life.

You will stay in the newly-opened Club Mythos Corfu situated in the picturesque village of Arillas. Centrally situated and yet peaceful and quiet. The beach, cafés, bars and little shops are just a 5-minute walk away. The hotel is surrounded by olive groves and offers its guests the opportunity to relax on the beach or enjoy long walks to hidden coves or old mountain villages.

The schedule offers five hours of integrated yoga practice daily: In the morning, three hours dynamic Hatha Vinyasa Flow including meditation and pranayama - in the evening two hours restorative and Yin Yoga.

Claire’s teaching focuses on correct alignment in order for optimal breathing and flow of energy to take place. Each and every moment on or off the mat is an opportunity to live and breathe freely - it begins with conscious placement of the body, evening out imbalances and ultimately finding peace of mind! Claire adapts her classes to suit the needs of the participants and where necessary provides modifications of positions so that each participant is able to practice at his level of experience and deepen his experience.

The fee is € 980.– per person.

We will play with the balance of steadiness and ease in this workshop.

  • How much strength, how much action is needed in order to find stability?
  • What part of my body needs to be strong and active?
  • What role do the bandhas play?
  • Where can I completely let go?
  • How far do I need to stretch? What is enough?
These and other questions will guide us through this workshop and enable each participant to find a healthy and balanced approach to the asana practice.
Since we will be working with arm balances and inversions this workshop is not appropriate for beginners.

Come home to the Self

During this intense yoga week (5 hours practice per day) we will enjoy a holistic practice. In the morning session we begin in silence with a meditation and pranayama practice and then move into a dynamic Hatha Flow practice. In the evening session we sing mantras and wind body and mind down with a restorative practice.

During this week you have the opportunity to leave daily life behind and to dive deep into your yoga practice, connect to your essence, restore your energy and create a healing space within you. This connection to your essence enables you to feel a sense of freedom on all levels: physical, emotional, spiritual. It allows you to come home to the Self.

Claire offers an integrated, holistic practice that awakens consciousness on all levels. Through moments of stillness in meditation, moments of concentration in pranayama (breath work) and the precise practice of asanas (yoga poses) consciousness is awakened and transformation can take place.
